Physical Description Rogan shows all the signs of a physically active life spent outdoors, being tall and athletic, freckled and rather weather-worn. Dark hair is worn in a choppy style, never longer than shoulder-length. Despite this practical and no-nonsense appearance, in a certain light there is a gauntness to her cheeks, a sunken quality to her eyes, and hers is not a face which lends itself easily to smiles or joy.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Any dealings with Rogan Ashe make it abundantly clear very quickly that this is an angry young woman. She is impetuous, short-tempered, and easy to get on the wrong side of. She doesn’t trust easy and is quick to find fault with whatever she sees. Her more positive qualities are that once her loyalty is earned, it is unshakeable, and if she has or is forced to have the patience to work through a problem, is capable of impressive ingenuity and lateral thinking. Above all, after almost her entire life spent under the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, hers is a perspective shaped by pain – enduring it and inflicting it.
Strengths & Weaknesses Rogan is a skilled fighter, adept in multiple forms of combat – hand to hand, marksmanship, and has shown a particular talent for munitions. She is not the most cooperative individual when it comes to authority, or displaying patience, or working with others.
Ambitions Once, Rogan was committed to the Maquis cause mostly because it gave her an ongoing opportunity to fight the distrusted Cardassian Union. More than most, the stranding of the Pioneer has left her adrift.

Personal History Born in a Cardassian labour camp, Rogan grew up to watch her entire family worked to death. Looked after by the vedeks in the camp, faith in the Prophets was what little in her life could pass for hope or a sense of belonging through most of her childhood. In her early teens she managed to slip away from the camp and, on the run in the nearby foothills, fell in with the local Bajoran Resistance cell.

For the next ten years, this was how she fought the Cardassians – on Bajoran soil, with Bajorans, targeting the structures of oppression, freeing who could be freed. Her cell was, however, far more focused upon wreaking havoc on Cardassian infrastructure and soldiers, aware that liberation would often be short-lived. When the Cardassian withdrawal began in a slew of chaos and blood, orders of mass slaughter going out in some quarters, her cell stormed a Cardassian military camp in Ilvia, targeting their evacuation efforts to draw military attention away from harming the Bajoran populace and towards protecting their own. The body count was not insignificant, and not all of those targeted were military.

Upon the liberation of Bajor, Rogan spent a brief stint in the Bajoran Militia, but even though she worked alongside many other ex-Resistance fighters, the Militia’s efforts at professionalism and cooperation with Starfleet made her poorly-suited to work which was more peacekeeping than havoc-wreaking. This discontent made her a fine target for recruitment by the Circle, and though her involvement was on minor, peripheral actions, she was still involved in the failed coup d’etat and unceremoniously cashiered out of the Militia.

That she subsequently fell in with the Maquis would not have been of great surprise to anyone, but then again, Rogan Ashe had left very few people behind who cared enough in the first place. For a brief time she was based on a cell in the Demilitarised Zone, protecting settlements, but her aggression had one of the cell leaders suggest her for a more pro-active part of the Maquis. By this recommendation, she landed herself a spot as glorified muscle on the SS Washington, conducting pirate raids against Federation shipping for equipment for the Maquis. Captain Carter was one of those leaders who quickly earned her loyalty, but this service was short-lived before the Caretaker incident.
