Also known as the Great Prodigy, the Scholar, the Pompous Windbag

Goddess of Knowledge and Pedagogy.

  • Associated Colours: Red and Orange
  • Symbol: An open book, a key depicted on the pages.

Every day must involve knowledge, either in the pursuit of or in the sharing of. Knowledge is for the betterment of the people. All that you learn ought be recorded, so that it might be shared. Knowledge and teaching are the rights of all people who would wish to learn, no matter their social status or deeds. An understanding of the world around leads to balance and stability and so should be spread. Whilst it is worthwhile to know a little of many things, this is no excuse for laziness. Any study undertaken must be undertaken full-heartedly. Those that teach and guide ought to be respected. A leader is nothing without the wise advisor, a warrior is nothing without those who trained him. The destruction of recordings of knowledge, or the oppression of individuals because of what they know, are abhorrent acts that must be opposed at any cost. The world is a logical place. Consequences follow action, all things happen for a reason. Knowing every step of a process is necessary for the fullest understanding. No follower of Saralyne should indulge wilful ignorance, from others or from themselves.

Overview

Saralyne is the Goddess of both knowledge and teaching. She encourages the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake, believing it always results in a greater understanding of the world around us, and in the sharing of that knowledge to all who would learn. Saralyne is most often worshipped by scholars and teachers, and thus she has a rather narrow, but certainly devout and determined, following.

Followers of Salaryne are taught that knowledge leads to the betterment of the people and that all that is learnt should be recorded and shared without bias. Knowledge is the right for all that wish to learn, regardless of social status or deeds. An understanding of the world around leads to balance and stability, and so should be spread. Similarly, teachers and guides should be shown due respect. A leader is nothing without a wise advisor, a warrior is nothing without those who trained him.

Followers of Saralyne are typically studious bookworms and scribes, although they are encouraged to lean practical skills as much as they are lores. They are very seldom the jack-of-all-trades kind - it is worthwhile to know a little of many things, but Saralyne teaches that this is no excuse for laziness. Any study undertaken must be undertaken full-heartedly. Most people reconcile this by studying one area of expertise.

There are some deeds that Saralyne finds abhorrent. Destruction of recordings of knowledge, or the oppression of individuals because of what they know, as well as any display of willful ignorance from her followers who, despite evidence and study to the contrary, abandon logic for mob mentality. A follower of Saralyne should always be seeking to uncover the truth, expanding their own knowledge, but also ensuring that ignorance does not prevail and that the truth remains preserved and free.
